From first contact, the hospital's translator, Sonya, answered all my questions with great attention to detail, perfect written English, and patience. Apart from Dr Kang's reputation for successful non-mesh hernia surgeries, Sonya's help in making my journey to South Korea as smooth a transition as possible was the second most important reason I chose Gibbeum hospital. Emma, a newly hired translator, was also very kind, polite and a pleasant person who was very eager to help me. I did not need to provide any medical documents or tests before arriving in South Korea. Everything was accomplished within one day including all necessary sonogram, x-ray, blood and urine tests with results available for Dr Kang to review before the surgery that same morning. I spent only one night in the hospital before returning to my hotel to rest for another day. On the second day after my surgery I flew back to my home. I was able to shower the day after surgery and was walking on the day of the surgery to the toilet and back without too much pain. I was operated on for umbilical and inguinal hernias. I am satisfied with the professionalism and politeness of the nurses in the hospital and with Dr Kang's ability to explain his procedure clearly and answer my questions with good English. Overall, this was a positive experience with minimal amount of inconvenience. One week after surgery, pain is already subsiding and I can move around my apartment slowly and be on my feet for a maximum of 5 minutes or so before pain starts to bother me. Though I have left South Korea, Sonya continues to answer my questions and Dr Kang is still available for consultation through WhatsApp. If anyone has the alternative to come to South Korea for hernia surgery I recommend Dr Kang and his helper Sonya.

As a foreigner living in Korea, I often felt alone. However, from the very moment I walked into Gibbeum Hospital, I never felt alone thanks to Miss Emma Ryu from the International Service team. A hospital in Pyeongtaek gave me a misdiagnosis and told me that I needed immediate surgery. Since I did not fully trust that hospital, I decided to come to Gibbeum Hospital for a second opinion. I was very scared, but she calmed me down, listened to me carefully, and supported me throughout the entire process. She never left me feeling abandoned, and even though I do not speak Korean, she communicated everything I wanted to say to the doctor accurately and clearly. The doctor was also excellent. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Surgeon Dr. Lee Jin Woo for his diagnosis and treatment. I highly recommend this hospital to everyone, and I would like to thank Miss Emma once again for taking such great care of me. If you are a foreigner, you will never experience a language barrier at this hospital.

건강검진 대상이라 방문했는데, 아침 일찍부터 사람이 정말 많더라고요. 그런데 QR 코드를 따라 이동하니 검진이 금방 끝나서 깜짝 놀랐어요. 생각보다 훨씬 편리했습니다!

머리가 너무 아파서 내원했는데 신경과 선생님이 너무 친절하게 증상 하나하나 차분하게 설명해 주셔서 너무 감사했어요ㅠㅠ 검사도 꼼꼼하게 해주셔서 정말 안심이 됐습니다!! 다행히 큰 질환은 아니었는데 다음에도 비슷한 증상 있으면 꼭 기쁨병원으로 다시 방문할 것 같네요ㅎㅎ
